More than 50 hot air balloons will take to the skies as part of the European Balloon Festival, which began July 10 and will continue through the weekend in Igualada, Spain.
However, Thursday's morning flight was shortened due to high winds.
AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Eric Leister said there have been gusty winds each of the past three mornings in the area.
Leister said there were wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph Wednesday through Friday mornings and that windy conditions are expected to remain for the next several days.
Despite the windy weather, the festival has provided numerous stunning images of the balloons flying over Igualada.
The flights, which can be held for competition or simply exhibition, are typically held in the early morning and late in the afternoon because that's when the weather conditions are ideal for flying according to the festival's website.
