Storms to Rattle Texas to Missouri, Tennessee Thursday

The remnants of severe thunderstorms will reignite and rattle areas from central and northeastern Texas to southern Missouri and western Tennessee Thursday afternoon and evening.

Severe thunderstorms erupted over western Kansas and eastern Colorado Wednesday. This complex of storms produced heavy rain over eastern Kansas, Oklahoma and northern Texas Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Wichita, Kansas, and Oklahoma City received more than an inch of rain.

Thunderstorms will erupt and gain strength as the area of disturbed weather continues to push to the east and south into Thursday evening, following daytime heating.

Cities in the path of locally severe thunderstorms into Thursday evening include Dallas and San Antonio, Texas; Shreveport and Monroe, Louisiana; Little Rock and Texarkana, Arkansas; Branson and Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Greenville, Mississippi; and Memphis, Tennessee.

Toward evening, storms could reach the Gulf coast and the Houston area.

There is a risk of flight delays and slow travel on the roadways as the storms hit with gusty downpours.
