Eighteen people are dead after a rain-related wall collapse on Sunday in Qingdao, China, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Three other people were injured, Xinhua reported.
The collapse crushed a workers' house where 40 people were gathered, The Associated Press reported.
Heavy rains have fallen across the region since Thursday night. Taishan, China, located west of Hong Kong, received 419.2 mm (16.50 inches) of rain in 24 hours, ending Friday evening local time.
The official rainfall total reported at Qingdao was 2.91 inches (73.9 mm), AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Eric Wanenchak said.
"Rainfall totals in the vicinity ranged from 2.0 to 3.5 inches (50.8 to 88.9 mm)," he said. "The heavy rainfall moved out of the area around 9:30 a.m. local time, and it appears that they should remain dry for the rest of the day going forward."
