Pileups Close I-65 in Indiana

Multi-vehicle crashes closed part of Interstate 65 on Saturday afternoon in Indiana.

All northbound lanes were blocked as a result of the crashes between exits 205 and 215, the Indiana Department of Transportation reported on its website. Southbound lanes were also closed near Lafayette, Ind., around 4 p.m. CST, reported Indiana State Police.

Media reports indicated that multiple tractor-trailers were involved with one of the rigs catching fire.

It had been snowing the Lafayette area around the time of the crash and the temperature was around 20 degrees, AccuWeather Meteorologist Erik Pindrock said.
