A pair of cold fronts will lead to multiple chances for thunderstorms from northern Argentina through Uruguay and southeastern Brazil.
The cities of Buenos Aires and Montevideo will be in the path of both cold fronts. The first front is already bringing gusty thunderstorms with heavy downpours to the region.
This front will shift northward into northern Uruguay and southeastern Brazil Tuesday night, allowing tranquil weather to return farther south.
There will be only a brief break from the storms as another cold front will arrive on Thursday.
This front will bring a new threat for strong to severe thunderstorms from the afternoon into evening for both Buenos Aires and Montevideo.
These thunderstorms will be capable of producing heavy rainfall, damaging winds and hail.
The front will lift northward by Friday allowing a much cooler air mass to push into both cities.
Meanwhile, the threat of heavy rain and gusty thunderstorms will shift into areas from Paraguay into southeastern Brazil for the weekend.
