Drenching rains, high winds and even a few tornadoes and hail storms hindered Halloween plans for most of the eastern part of the country Thursday night.
Co-op observers at Midway Airport in Chicago recorded 3.31 inches of rain from Wednesday through Thursday. Penny-sized hail was reported by an NWS-trained spotter in St. Clair County. Two unconfirmed reports of tornadoes in Saline and Williamson Counties are still being investigated.
A tornado was confirmed in Orange County, Texas, that was 3 miles long and had 75-mph winds.
Law enforcement officials in Waverly, Ohio, reported tree damages and closed roads as a result of the high winds. Winds were responsible for flight delays at many major airports Friday morning, including LaGuardia and Newark.
