The Dallas area is at risk for strong thunderstorm for the second half of Saturday.
A weather disturbance from New Mexico will cause showers and thunderstorms to rumble across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex through Sunday morning.
Some of the thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening have the potential to turn violent with damaging winds, hail and blinding downpours.
An isolated tornado causing additional destruction cannot be ruled out.
The danger for these strong thunderstorms later Saturday also exists in Wichita Falls, Abilene and San Angelo.
Even if the thunderstorms remain below severe levels, residents and visitors to Dallas are reminded to move inside as soon as thunder is heard. You are then close enough to be struck by lightning.
The dry weather set to close out the weekend Sunday afternoon will persist in Dallas through Tuesday.
Rain and thunderstorms, some heavy, will then follow at midweek as a storm moves through, accompanied by moisture from Raymond in the eastern Pacific.
