Heavy snow has already shut down portions of I-25 and I-90 across Wyoming and South Dakota, while severe storms prepare to ramp up across much of the Midwest.
The same storm that dumped more than a foot of snow across portions of Montana is strengthening to the lee of the Rockies on Friday.
Heavy snow will continue to slam eastern Wyoming and western South Dakota, while winds up to 40-60 mph add contribute to blowing and drifting. Some communities are already dealing with power outages, and more are possible as the heavy, wet snow weighs down branches and power lines.
Meanwhile, farther east on the warmer side of the storm, severe storms will ignite from Wisconsin to Oklahoma through Friday evening.
