PHOTOS: First Blizzard of Season Rages Across Wyoming, South Dakota

The first blizzard of the season is making its way across the Plains into the Midwest, dumping large amounts of heavy snow that has been impacting flights and knocking out power.

Carbon County, Wyo., got 4 inches of snow in seven hours Thursday night, and large flakes continue to blanket the state. Mammoth, Wyo., has already received 8 inches.

As of 5:51 a.m. MDT, nearly 3,000 Casper, Wyo., residents are without power due to the storms.

This is the same system that brought as much as 15 inches of snow to Luther, Mont., which downed trees across the county.

According to FlightStats, Denver, Rapid City and Minneapolis airports are topping the national airport delays as snow and rain continue pushing to the east.
