A cold front extending from the same storm system dumping snow on the Northwest has invaded the Desert Southwest, which brought dust storms to the Phoenix area. The dust storms, though intense, are fairly short-lived.
The storms caused a multiple vehicle pileup on route 347 Thursday afternoon; no serious injuries were reported. AccuWeather.com Meteorologist John Gresiak said that the observations from Sky Harbor Airport did not indicate any blowing dust, but did show wind gusts of 25-30 mph which could have caused blowing dust in some areas.
