Behind Tropical Storm Gil, a new tropical depression has formed in the eastern Pacific.
For the time being, Tropical Depression 8-E is far away from any land, just as Gil was when it formed earlier this week.
The depression is currently expected to strengthen to a tropical storm, becoming Henriette, sometime Sunday.
While Gil is expected to track to the south of Hawaii over the next several, Tropical Depression 8-E likely will take a different path.
The new storm currently looks to take a more northerly path early in the week. However, by moving into cooler waters, the storm will weaken by the middle of the week.
