With high pressure over the region, the mid-Atlantic and New England will have a noticeable increase in temperature for the start of the week.
The majority of the Northeast had a day in the upper 70s to mid-80s to start off the weekend on Saturday.
Hotter temperatures with sunshine will be on the way starting on Sunday and continuing to at least Wednesday or Thursday.
By Monday, major cities will be pushed into the 90s, including Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York City and Providence, and heat will continue to spread through the week.

With multiple days of temperatures anticipated over 90 degrees, heat waves are in the forecast for many of these cities through the middle of the week. Heat indexes also have the possibility to break 105 in urban areas.
If you are spending time outside during this time, especially in the afternoon, be sure to wear sunscreen and protective clothing. It is also important to drink plenty of water in order to remain hydrated.
