Live: Torrential Downpours Soak Midwest, Aim for St. Louis

Winds have gusted up to 50 mph in Alta, Ill., as a line of severe storms pushes through part of the Midwest. Just outside of Brookville, Ind., 1.18 inches of rain was recorded by in under an hour. A trained spotter reported hail 1 inch in diameter in the town of Peoria, Ill.

Storms are expected to continue bringing heavy rain and gusting winds through the area, on track to hit St. Louis by 5 p.m. CDT. Flooding will be an area of concern for locations in the storm's path.

5:05 p.m. CDT Sunday: Emergency Managers in Houston County, Minn., report that a state of emergency has been declared due to flash flooding. Portions of several major roads and state highways are said to be closed.

4:55 p.m. CDT Sunday: The Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network reports that 3.75 inches of rain fell in just 90 minutes outside of Indianapolis.

4:30 p.m. CDT Sunday: A trained spotter reports a 50 mph wind gust in Alta, Ill.
