Severe storms pushing across Iowa, southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois are producing torrential rain, damaging wind gusts and hail on Friday.
While this complex of thunderstorms progresses eastward and southward, before diminishing, new thunderstorms will be erupting farther west across the Dakotas and eastern Wyoming.
Cities that lie in the path of the severe storms at midday Friday include Milwaukee, Wis., and Rockford and Chicago, Ill.
The thunderstorms are riding along the northern rim of heat surging across the Plains and Midwest.
