Areas from the Hill Country to the Golden Triangle, Louisiana bayous and the lower Mississippi Valley can be hit by locally damaging thunderstorms Thursday evening.
The caboose in a train of disturbances is swinging through the area, causing towering clouds, blinding downpours and powerful thunderstorms.
In addition to the threat of flash and urban flooding, thunderstorms can bring large hail, damaging wind gusts and frequent lightning strikes into the first part of Thursday night.
Cities that can be impacted by the storms include San Antonio, Austin, Houston and Beaumont, Texas; Baton Rouge, Alexandria and Lake Charles, La.; and Jackson, Meridian and Tupelo, Miss.
People should be prepared for travel delays and sporadic power outages along the I-10 corridor.
Never drive through flooded roadways.
If you can hear thunder, you are at risk for being struck by lightning. Move indoors and away from windows at the first sign of approaching storms.
