Live: Thunderstorms Produce Flooding, Delays Traffic in Northeast

Thunderstorms producing heavy rain, hail and strong winds moved into the northeast Thursday flooding roads and delaying flights.

More than 500 inbound and outbound flights at LaGuardia in New York were delayed due to the storms. At the Philadelphia International Airport, 483 flight delays were reported as of 7 p.m. EDT.

"The heaviest storms will impact Binghamton, N.Y., between 7-8 p.m. EDT, Williamsport, Pa., by 7 p.m. EDT, Hagerstown, Md., around 8 p.m. EDT, and Harrisburg, Pa., around 9 p.m. EDT," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Erik Pindrock.


7:15 p.m. EDT Thursday: Two miles west, southwest of Damascus, Md., Kings Valley Road and Kingstead Rd.

5:15 p.m. EDT Thursday: Parts of westbound Staten Island Expressway were closed due to flooding.

4:46 p.m. EDT Thursday: Flooding closed Rogers Park Road in Danbury, Ct.

4:20 p.m. EDT Thursday: Lightning struck a home in Glen Rock, N.J., and smoke is visible. The fire department is responding.

3:37 p.m. EDT Thursday: A thunderstorm downed a tree and started a transformer fire 2 miles south, southwest of Newcomb Hall, Va.
