The weather Thursday and Friday may be a sign of things to come for the summer of 2013 in California with building heat and a risk of wildfires.
The Los Angeles area is forecast to experience its first 90-degree day before the week ends.
Temperatures are projected to reach record highs for the date Thursday in San Francisco and could challenge the record in San Diego Friday.
Along with the heat comes locally gusty winds and very dry conditions.
According to Western Weather Expert Ken Clark, "Temperatures reaching the 90s, localized wind gusts to 45 mph and relative humidity levels down to 5 to 10 percent will make for extreme fire danger."
Temperatures are forecast to throttle back over the weekend with less wind and somewhat higher humidity levels.
AccuWeather.com long-range weather experts are projecting a rough summer for heat, drought and wildfires over a large part of the West.
