Live: Major Snowstorm Unfolding in Oklahoma City

A wind-whipped snowstorm is under way across Oklahoma and Kansas on Wednesday. Travel impacts will continue to expand north and eastward as the day progresses.

Up to half a foot of snow is possible across northern Oklahoma, and more than a foot of snow will clobber portions of Kansas and Nebraska.

Oklahoma City and Dodge City, Kan., are among the communities dealing with travel-disrupting snow. Motorists along heavily traveled interstates, including I-35 and I-70, are urged to use caution.


8:48 a.m. CST Wednesday: It is snowing heavily in Okemah, Okla., with an inch covering the ground so far. Roadways are covered in the area.

8:30 a.m. CST Wednesday: The Kansas Department of Transportation 511 road condition map shows (in pink) that portions of I-70 and other state highways are completely covered by snow and ice. The light blue color indicates roads that are partially covered by snow and ice.

8:00 a.m. CST Wednesday: Oklahoma City has received 2.0 inches of snow. Motorists are urged to use caution. Local Radar
