Snow-Covered Tree Branch Kills Man in Central Park

NEW YORK  -- Fire officials say a man died in Central Park after a snow laden tree branch fell and hit him.

The incident happened Thursday afternoon as thick, heavy snow draped across New York City.

Officials say at least three trees went down, including one that hit the 56-year-old man.

His name wasn't released. He was found at about 3:30 p.m. by a passer-by and pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say it looks like he was just cutting through the park when he was struck.
