'Journal for Jordan'

" Welcome back everyone like so many others first Sargent Charles Monroe king gave his life. While serving his country in Iraq but his memory lives on in amazing journal of guidance and advice that he wrote while overseas and left behind. For his two year old son Jordan. Dana Kennedy king's fiancee and senior editor for the New York Times has published those writing just part of the new book journal for Jordan. She joins me now live good morning TJ good morning let me start by saying how fat we all are for your -- thank you very analysts wonderful man who was important part of -- yes and most importantly with this book the father of your son Jordan. Now he put together this journal 200 -- him to do what gave him the inspiration to --"

" You know I bought the journal for him when I was pregnant thinking that he might jot down a few notes for our son and Jordan wasn't born hats and he became consumed with filling this journal that he wanted to give guide to. To teach her son his values pass those on and telling her to live in case he didn't make it home."

" And that's exactly what happened a month before he was going to come -- and actually knew he was going on a deadly sort of a mission he volunteered for he volunteered for. I'm in certain sense can you tell me that you were."

" Angry at him for doing that knowing that he had you back home and it's beautiful child and and you know I went through all stages of grief that people talk about and -- the first was just denial I just didn't leave and I thought it was a mistake. That the military got it wrong he'd be home. Once I moved through that stage than I was angry thinking oh my gosh you know you have one month and did you have to go on that mission and I know now that he did -- You know it was just calling to be a soldier."

" But in his in this journal an amazing thing is to cover all the topics -- does he talks about how to Jordan will eventually learn how to shave then he talked about other things guessing young men will go to your music you might not be able to teach your own son -- father could that take."

" Exactly I you know I'll do my best to be a good mom to Jordan but I can't alone teach him to be a man and now I don't have to because."

" Advice everything from how to choose a wife to you know pay your bills on time. Two how to treat women how to behave on your first date his favorite Bible versus assault in the journal when he he wrote everything."

" That he thought he needed to pass on to our -- in case you didn't come home and immediately you put this journal to book form and here. With that part of the healing process talks so much so yes. I needed to do something positive because I had so much fear and anger and pain inside of me. And you know when you're feeling like that you've got one -- two -- to something negative or something positive. And I decided to tackle that energy."

" And writes in the books literally written to my son every chapter and and I wanted it to be a guide for him to know his father better and the response that you have received."

" Has been unbelievable you know that it's such a blessing that in this tragedy people from all over this country have reached out to us."

" And shared our grief and you know responded to to me personally and it's just stand. Amazing and I think it's just so much about. Human Spirit and about Americans in this country that people who -- don't even know us."

" Have reached out and embrace the book in them and us and I'm so grateful for that and so this beautiful child Jordan get out two years is -- for obviously too young to read this look but you tell me that he touches -- he says my book and I -- Jordan absolutely that's your book. Cooper and the message to other people if that we should never take anything for that's exactly right I mean imagine if this journal didn't exist I would be trying to -- and on my own and I'm really not doing that now you don't have his father right here with me in his own words to help us along and I'm grateful for that so the message in a journal for Jordan is.
