The National Transportation Safety Board says in a preliminary report on a deadly hot air balloon crash in Virginia that the balloon hit a power line as it attempted to land.
The report released Tuesday is consistent with witness accounts of the May 9 crash, which killed the veteran pilot and two passengers.
The crash occurred in Doswell, about 25 miles north of Richmond, ahead of a hot air balloon festival. The pilot, Daniel T. Kirk, was killed along with two athletic officials with the University of Richmond.
