A Connecticut man authorities say killed his wife with a shotgun before using the same weapon to shoot himself in the face has been charged with murder.

Police on Thursday charged 45-year-old Michael Torbicki with murder in the Sept. 21 death of Patricia Torbicki in their Newington home. He remains hospitalized and is scheduled for arraignment Friday.

It could not immediately be determined if he has a lawyer.

Police say Michael Torbicki shot his wife in the leg in their bedroom, and then again in the head as she tried to flee the home in her pajamas. A neighbor found Patricia Torbicki covered in blood in the doorway of her home and called 911.

Relatives told police Michael Torbicki struggled with alcoholism and depression and the couple was considering divorce.
