NORRISTOWN, Pa. – A child predator in Pennsylvania who vanished before his 2006 sentencing has been convicted in England of raping a 13-year-old girl.
The Montgomery County district attorney's office says 33-year-old Gerard Zalewski was sentenced Wednesday in Lancashire to 12 years in jail.
Police in Lancashire say Zalewski groomed the girl online and manipulated her into sending him explicit photos. They say she met him in June in a park, where he subjected her to hours of sexual abuse.
He pleaded guilty in October.
His Pennsylvania arrest stemmed from his sexually explicit online chats with a detective posing as a 12-year-old girl. He was arrested in 2004 after trying to meet the undercover detective for sex, and he pleaded guilty.
An investigation revealed he had previous sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl.
