The father of a man jailed on charges he smashed a Pennsylvania police officer's window with a large rock has apologized to police.
The (West Chester) Daily Local News (http://bit.ly/2aufFXL ) says Coatesville police shared the letter from Eric Watson Sr. on their Facebook page.
In it, Watson praised Officer Jared Davis for "displaying professionalism beyond the norm in a time when madness seems to be the order of the day."
Police say 29-year-old Eric Watson Jr. smashed the windshield of Davis' car and then chased the officer with the rock. Another officer broke his sternum helping to subdue the suspect on July 18.
The attack came a few days after three officers were slain in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and five others were killed in Dallas.
Watson say police respected his son's rights even though an officer was hurt.
