Police in suburban Dallas have identified a suspect in the death of a local journalist and real estate investor.

Garland police said Tuesday that Anibal Edilfredo Chirino Mejia is wanted in connection with the death of Jacinto "Jay" Torres Hernandez, whose body was found June 13 in the backyard of a home.

Torres published hundreds of articles for the Spanish-language newspaper La Estrella. He also was an owner of a real estate company with properties in Dallas and surrounding areas.

In a statement, Garland Lt. Pedro Barineau said Mejia "had intentions" to sue Torres and that Torres had previously been sued as part of his real estate dealings. A $5,000 reward has been set for Mejia's capture.

UNESCO and journalism advocacy groups had called for further examination of Torres' death.
