Delaware State Police have arrested a woman they say left her 2-year-old son in a parked car near a store in Lewes.
The agency said in a news release that on July 8, troopers were called to a Dollar General and witnesses had taken the boy out of the unlocked car after they saw him in the vehicle.
Authorities say the outside temperature reached a high of 94 degrees and the boy may have been in the car for an hour.
Troopers say the boy was treated for dehydration and released to a relative.
Police say they found the boy's mother inside the store. She was charged with reckless endangering and driving under the influence of a drug.
