Two people are dead and one is wounded after a shooting in St. Louis, and a responding city police officer suffered a graze wound.

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said early Thursday morning that a suspect in what authorities believe was a domestic incident is in custody.

Dotson says the suspect produced a gun during a disturbance among a group of people on a porch. One man was fatally shot during a struggle over the weapon.

The chief says the suspect then shot fatally shot a woman, believed to be his ex-girlfriend, and another man, who was taken to a hospital.

When officers arrived, the suspect fired at them. One officer's leg was grazed by a ricocheting bullet.

Officers returned fire but didn't strike the suspect, who was taken into custody and is being questioned.
