Louisiana police say an officer shot and killed a person outside a Baton Rouge convenience store.

Cpl. L'Jean McKneely tells local news outlets officers responded to the store early Tuesday after an anonymous caller indicated there was a man in the area with a gun.

McKneely says two officers at the scene had some type of altercation with the man and one officer fatally shot the suspect.

He says police believe only one officer fired shots. It is unclear how many shots were fired.

McKneely says the officer has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard department policy.

Other details about the fatal shooting were not immediately available.
