Authorities in South Carolina say a police officer investigating a suspicious man at a beachfront state park shot the man.
Horry County Police spokesman Raul Denis told media outlets it happened around 1:15 p.m. Friday.
Dennis said the county officer confronted the man outside his car at Myrtle Beach State Park. Dennis would not say why the officer questioned or fired at the man. The names of the officer and man have not been released.
Dennis said the man was taken to the hospital, but didn't give his condition.
The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting. Agency spokesman Thom Berry said both the officer and the man who was shot are white.
This was the 23rd officer-involved shooting in South Carolina this year. There were 48 in 2015.
