A New Jersey man has admitted the he repeatedly aimed a laser pointer at a TV station's helicopter last year.
Federal prosecutors say Stiven Lopez-Bender pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft.
Prosecutors say the helicopter was covering a house fire in Elizabeth on Nov. 11 when a green laser was aimed at it. They say a reporter and the pilot saw Lopez-Bender point a laser at the aircraft three more times.
The 27-year-old Elizabeth man faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he's sentenced Sept. 28.
Aviation officials say laser light can blind pilots, creating a dangerous situation.
