Maryland State Police say they used a helicopter to rescue a 13-year-old girl from the Shenandoah River near Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
Police said in a statement Tuesday that the girl became stranded on a rock, surrounded by dangerous rapids, during a family outing Monday near the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers.
Police say a crew member was lowered to the rock, followed by a rescue basket that hoisted both the girl and the crew member into the aircraft.
