Police say a high school student in northern Virginia has been charged with giving drugs to a classmate who died.
Authorities say 18-year-old David Evers turned himself in to Fairfax County police last week and was charged with drug distribution in connection with the death of 17-year-old Alexia Springer.
The medical examiner found that Springer's death was accidental and resulted from a combination of alcohol and a cocktail of drugs, including morphine, oxycodone, ethanol.
Springer died March 1 after she was found unresponsive at her family's home.
Both Evers and Springer were students at Centreville High School in the county, a suburb of the nation's capital.
It isn't immediately clear whether Evers has an attorney to comment on the charge.
The investigation is ongoing.
