A Mississippi man is being released without bond following his arrest last week when his 8-month-old daughter died after being left in a hot car.

Grenada Municipal Judge Rusty Harlow ordered the release of 25-year-old Joshua Blunt following a brief hearing Tuesday.

Blunt's daughter, Shania Caradine, died Thursday after Blunt left her in the car outside the restaurant where he works.

City prosecutor Jennifer Adams is asking that the charges against Blunt be reduced from second-degree murder to culpable negligence.

Harlow said he would wait to make that decision until the district attorney joins the motion.

Family members and supporters Tuesday praised the decision to release Blunt.
