HARRISBURG, Pa. – Federal prosecutors don't want Pennsylvania terrorism suspect freed on bond because they say he'd just return home, which is where he allegedly committed his alleged crimes.
Nineteen-year-old Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz faces a detention hearing before a federal judge in Harrisburg on Tuesday. The judge will determine whether to grant bond or to keep Aziz jailed until trial.
Aziz was already accused of trying to assist the Islamic State group when he was charged last week with tweeting the names and addresses of military personnel with threats of violence.
The public defender wants Aziz released from jail, saying he's been treated unfairly there. But prosecutors say Aziz's parents supplied the phone he used to commit the crimes, and sending him home amounts to sending him back to the crime scene.
