Hundreds of people are expected at a Salt Lake City funeral Saturday for former U.S. Sen Bob Bennett of Utah, who died earlier this month from complications of pancreatic cancer and a recent stroke.

The funeral will be held at a Mormon church in Salt Lake City, followed by a burial at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Bennett, who was 82, was known in his three Senate terms as a Republican who could get things done in Washington and work across the aisle.

He lost a re-election bid in 2010, becoming one of the first incumbents booted out by a rise in tea party-fueled anger.

Following his loss, Bennett ran a consulting firm, worked as a Washington lobbyist and was a resident political scholar at the University of Utah.
