An Army veteran is accused of killing his mother at their Florida Panhandle home on Mother's Day.
The Pensacola News Journal (http://on.pnj.com/1QWsKQN) reports Santa Rosa County Sheriff's deputies received a call early on Mother's Day morning. When deputies arrived, they heard yelling and the sounds of someone in distress.
A police report says a bloodied 38-year-old Christopher Reed Lynch approached deputies, wielding an iron rod with a hook on the end. He became violent and deputies used a stun gun and placed him in leg irons and handcuffs.
Deputies found Cheryl Lynch on the blood-covered porch. She told deputies her son hit her. She was taken to the hospital where she died.
Lynch remains in jail on an open homicide charge. Records don't say whether he's hired a lawyer.
