MIAMI – Authorities say a police officer fatally shot a man who was stabbing a woman in Miami.
Miami police Chief Rodolfo Llanes told reporters at the scene the officer saw a man stabbing a woman while he was on patrol early Thursday.
Miami Fraternal Order of Police President Javier Ortiz called the officer a hero, saying he saved the life of an innocent bystander.
The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The names and race of those involved hasn't been released. The incident will be investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
