According to Dr. Ivan Misner, founder of Business Network International (BNI), if you want to nail a presentation, start by explaining your lowest common denominators, or the most immediate, universal value of your business.
"If you want to talk about the business that you're in, it's important to prepare and break the business down into specific products or services that you have to offer," he says. "The more specific you can be, the greater the results you'll see."
In this video, Dr. Misner uses a presentation that a florist had given at a BNI meeting as an example of a great lowest common denominator presentation.
