Princeton University names dean for diversity and inclusion

Princeton University has hired a dean for diversity and inclusion.

The Ivy League university in Princeton, New Jersey, announced Tuesday that LaTanya Buck would fill the newly created position and start her job in August. Buck is the founding director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion in St. Louis.

The new position was a recommendation that came from the university's special task force on diversity, equity and inclusion, which issued its report last May.

Word of Buck's hiring came a day after the university announced former U.S. President Woodrow Wilson's name will remain on its public policy school despite calls to remove it because he was a segregationist.

Buck will be responsible for providing a vision and integrated programs for diversity, equity and inclusion to enhance campus life.
