Authorities say Myrtle Beach police officers shot a man while investigating a call about a suicidal person.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department says in a statement that the man showed a weapon at officers before he was wounded about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday near a wooded area by the Intracoastal Waterway.

The man shot was taken to the hospital, but his name and condition have not been released.

None of the officers was injured.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting and said at least one officer's body camera captured the shooting.

Authorities say this is the 12th officer-involved shooting so far this year in South Carolina.
