DALLAS – A judge has increased the bail for a suburban Dallas police officer who shot and killed a teenage burglary suspect and wounded another boy while off duty.
The judge on Monday raised Farmers Branch Officer Ken Johnson's bail to $300,000. Johnson was arrested Wednesday on murder and aggravated assault charges in the March 13 shootings in Addison. He posted $150,000 bond and left jail the next day.
Brittany Dunn, a spokeswoman for the Dallas County district attorney's office, says Johnson won't be arrested again if he posts bond to cover the higher amount in the next few days.
The judge denied a request from prosecutors to require Johnson wear a GPS monitoring device but ordered Johnson not to leave Dallas County. Additional restrictions include surrendering his weapons and passport.
