Cops: Man fatally stabbed at tony Philadelphia park over hat

Police say a man wearing a New Jersey Devils baseball cap stabbed another man to death in a posh section of Philadelphia after an argument about the hat turned physical.

Police say the stabbing happened just after 3 a.m. Sunday in the city's tony Rittenhouse Square. Emergency responders found 24-year-old Colin McGovern, of Churchville, lying on the sidewalk with multiple stabs wounds to the torso. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police say a preliminary investigation shows McGovern and a friend were arguing with 40-year-old Steven Simminger over Simminger's Devils cap. The argument escalated into a physical altercation.

Simminger, of Media, is charged with murder and related offenses.

No attorney information is listed for Simminger in online court documents.
