Chicago police spokesman says 3 officers shot

Three Chicago police officers were shot Monday night and sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, according to a police spokesman.

Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted that the officers were taken to a hospital Monday night.

The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately clear. Guglielmi provided no further details and couldn't immediately be reached by The Associated Press.

Larry Merritt, a spokesman for the Independent Police Review Authority, told the Chicago Sun-Times the officers were shot in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the city's West Side.
