NEW YORK – A police spokesman says a New York City police officer has been shot and two suspects taken into custody.
New York Police Department spokesman Carlos Nieves says on Twitter the shooting happened Tuesday evening in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. He says two suspects were taken into custody and police were looking for a third person.
Police provided no further detail on the officer's condition or the circumstances of the shooting.
A spokeswoman for Mayor Bill de Blasio says the officer was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in Queens. De Blasio is expected to hold a news conference at the hospital later Tuesday evening.
