MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says it is investigating what led police to shoot at a suspect while responding to a domestic violence call in Murfreesboro.
TBI spokesman Josh DeVine tells the Daily News Journal (on.dnj.com/1QBKaGV) that at least one city officer fired at the suspect Sunday night in a motel parking lot after he tried to ram officers with a vehicle that had children inside. Devine said the suspect then fled the scene and police pursued until he surrendered.
A statement from the Murfreesboro Police Department says the suspect told officers he was shot, and he was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His condition wasn't immediately available. None of the children was injured.
Police did not immediately release the identity of the suspect or the officer.
