Police say two men who fired shots at several cars are believed to be holed up inside a townhome in Virginia, possibly with automatic weapons.

Manassas police spokeswoman Patty Prince says students at three nearby schools who live near the townhome are being held at school Thursday afternoon as a precaution.

Police say they've called in the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives because of the nature of the weapons that may be inside the house.

Police said in a release they were alerted to the shots fired around 1:30 p.m. The men were seen running into the house. Police say they got a tip that the men had high-powered automatic weapons and possibly explosives. Police say several vehicles were damaged by gunfire, but no one was injured.
