BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. – A southwest Florida man who has been arrested in connection with his wife's death will be allowed phone contact with their two young daughters while the state decides who will have permanent custody.
The decision came Monday following a Florida Department of Children and Families hearing. Mark Sievers was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree murder in the June death of his wife, Dr. Teresa Sievers.
The state took custody of the children — ages 9 and 11 — Friday. They've been at the home of a nonrelative caregiver.
Sievers attended the hearing in handcuffs and jail attire. He's being held on a $4.43 million bond.
Circuit Judge Lee A. Schreiber says he's satisfied with the living arrangement while the court decides on permanent placement of the girls.
