Police searched for a suspect Friday after a father in Ohio said somebody grabbed his 10-year-old daughter by the legs and tried pulling her through her bedroom window.

The suspect said neither the girl nor her family would get hurt if she cooperated, her father told police after the encounter early Thursday. He said the girl ultimately broke free and ran to her father's room.

Police did not name the family who lived at the home in Elyria. They said the father noticed someone had removed a ladder from his yard and placed it underneath the girl's window.

The girl said the suspect was a white man in his thirties with brown eyes and wearing a black hoodie, police said. They add that hit matches the description of a man who allegedly attacked three girls later Thursday in nearby Lorain.

The suspect grabbed two of the girls and exposed himself to another, investigators said. All of the girls escaped.

The attacks forced Lorain City Schools to lock down that day, Fox 8 reports. The FBI was investigating, the news station adds.

Elyria is about 30 miles southwest of Cleveland.
