More details emerged Monday about the gunman suspected in a series of shootings that killed six people in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Here's what we know about the apparently random attacks:
___
ERRATIC DRIVING: Matt Mellen told a Kalamazoo television station that the suspect, who worked as an Uber driver, picked him up at around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, about 90 minutes before the shootings began. He said Jason Dalton introduced himself as "Me-Me" and about a mile into the trip, got a phone call. When he hung up, he began driving erratically, Mellen said, recalling how Dalton blew through stop signs and sideswiped cars. After the trip, Mellen called police and tried to warn the ride-hailing service.
___
NO SIGNS OF VIOLENCE: Authorities said Dalton, who was to make his first court appearance Monday, had no prior criminal record. And neighbors said the married father of two never showed any signs of violence. They described him as a former auto insurance adjuster who enjoyed working on auto-body repair and playing with his children.
___
THREE SHOOTING SCENES: The shootings began outside an apartment complex, where a woman was hit multiple times. Hours later and 15 miles away, a father and his 17-year-old son were fatally shot while looking at cars at a dealership. Fifteen minutes after that, five people were gunned down in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel restaurant. Authorities said the 45-year-old seemed to target his victims at random. Police have not provided a motive.
