Authorities say an autopsy shows that a slain metro Atlanta police officer was shot four times and investigators say the shooter remains hospitalized.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation officials said in a statement Tuesday that Riverdale police Maj. Greg Barney was wounded in his abdomen, arm, leg and lower back Feb. 11. Officials say two wounds weren't immediately visible.

Officials say Barney was working as an on-site supervisor while Clayton County police searched an apartment building during a drug investigation.

Investigators say Barney saw 24-year-old Jerand Ross flee the building as authorities went inside and was shot after he chased him. Another officer wounded Ross, who is charged with murder and still hospitalized.

A funeral for Barney, a 25-year police veteran, is set for Saturday.
